Can't link GitHub Repository to Cloudflare Pages

Hello,

After deleting my account last year, I decided to sign back up to host my website. Signing up was all fine, but whenever I try to link a GitHub repository I get the following error:

An unknown error occurred. Contact your account team or Cloudflare support: cfl.re/3WgEyrH. (Code: 8000000)

I’ve tried multiple times over a period of a few weeks and the same error occurs. Maybe there’s a bug in the system that prevents returning accounts (using the same email address) from linking GitHub repositories - it worked fine when I did it last year (before deleting my account).

Steps to reproduce:

(From the dashboard)

  • Select Pages
  • Select Create a project
  • Select connect to git
  • Select connect to GitHub
  • Select repository in GitHub for Cloudflare Pages to access
  • Redirects back to Cloudflare
  • Goes back to Create Project with the error mentioned above in a toast at the bottom of the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hey,

What’s your account ID?

Do you have the GitHub user/org possibly linked to another Cloudflare account?

I guess the exhaustive steps to reproduce would be:

  • Sign up to Cloudflare
  • Create a Pages project and link a GitHub Repository
  • Delete Cloudflare account
  • Sign up to Cloudflare again
  • Select Pages
  • Select Create a project
  • Select connect to git
  • Select connect to GitHub
  • Select repository in GitHub for Cloudflare Pages to access
  • Redirects back to Cloudflare
  • Goes back to Create Project with the error mentioned above in a toast at the bottom of the screen

I’m not sure what my Cloudflare account ID is. My GitHub account username is rosscarrick.

My repository shouldn’t be linked to another account, but I remember when selecting a repository (after signing back up to Cloudflare) it remembered my selection from last time.

It just dawned on me after replying to your comment that I didn’t uninstall Cloudflare on the GitHub side.

So the fix is to ensure Cloudflare is uninstalled in GitHub before connecting again.

Thank you very much!
