Can't find SPF records - should I create a new one?

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

I need to modify my spf records, but can’t find any. I see a full (I hope it’s full) list of DNS records but none are SPF records.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

My webhost sent the following message:

Modify your domain’s SPF record to add the following:

include:relay.mailchannels.net

For example, if your SPF currently looks similar to:

"v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:192.168.1.1 include:smtp.servconfig.com ~all"
You would then need to update it to:

"v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:192.168.1.1 include:smtp.servconfig.com include:relay.mailchannels.net ~all"

You should keep any IPs you previously had in place the same, we are only adding the additional include section.

As you can see in the screenshot, I don’t have any SPF records to modify. I could create a new one, but I don’t know if that will cause problems? Am I not looking for existing records in the right place?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Your domain doesn’t have an SPF record, so create one.

Select TXT as the Type.

Thanks! So I should do it manually instead of using the SPF wizard?

It doesn’t matter how you do it, as long as the end result is correct.

If MailChannels is the only external sender you’re using, then the SPF record should be:

"v=spf1 ip4:205.134.241.75 include:relay.mailchannels.net -all"

You’ll put this into the “Content” field of the TXT record.

Important:

Remove the CNAME record for the subdomain mail, and replace it with an A instead, pointing to your hosting server’s IP address. Set this to DNS Only :grey:

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help here! I’m going to give this a try right away, and I may reach back out if I still have questions. THANK YOU!!!
