Can't find, server failed

C:\Windows\System32>nslookup notquitethere.com 1.1.1.1
Server: one.one.one.one
Address: 1.1.1.1

*** one.one.one.one can’t find notquitethere.com: Server failed

Once I do a lookup of the name servers for interisland.net (the host for notquitethere.com) then it works for a spell but later it is lost before the TTL expires

It would seem there are some issues with that domain’s DNS setup. For example, its second nameserver does not seem responsive.

I’m not sure what you mean. What is not responding? interisland.net or notquitethere.com? Again, if I do a lookup against 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1 I get a timeout. If I do a lookup on 1ns.interisland.net and dns1.interisland.net, the nameservers in question, they slowly resolve and then notquitethere.com can be looked up, however, it does not stay that way for the duration of thee TTL. Never have an issue with 8.8.8.8

That domain has two nameservers dns1.interisland.net and dns2.interisland.net. The latter does not respond.

Odd that server has very little on it and nothing to do with
either interisland.net or notquitethere.com. Where are you finding
the dns2.interisland.net? From the root servers? Can you copy me
what you are seeing?

Whois and root servers.

nslookup -type=ns notquitethere.com a.gtld-servers.net
(root) nameserver = i.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = j.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = k.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = l.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = m.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = a.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = b.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = c.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = d.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = e.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = f.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = g.root-servers.net
(root) nameserver = h.root-servers.net
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.5.6.30

notquitethere.com nameserver = dns1.interisland.net
notquitethere.com nameserver = dns2.interisland.net
dns1.interisland.net internet address = 69.7.46.10
dns2.interisland.net internet address = 69.7.46.8

Okay, I found the root servers had the wrong info. Reset
nameservers with registrar and they seem to be showing correctly.
New issue to me. I’ll check 1.1.1.1 again tomorrow to see if that
resolved the issue.

Thanks,

  Paul

I agree, you need to change your nameservers. You can either request for new ones like these paypal email and password generator or maybe consider using other SSL provider as a last resort.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for you help on this. Once I got the root servers to
reflect what was set on the registrar’s interface the issue went
away.
