Cannot use my own name server

I bought a domain using Cloudflare registrar. I want to use a name server from my hosting provider, so I added 2 NS records in DNS section for the website. However, when I use whois or dig, I don’t see my custom name servers. Instead, I see the default Cloudflare nameserver.

Is there something special I need to do to have my own name server for .com domains registered using cloudflare registrar?

Cloudflare registrar provides at cost domain registration as an exclusive benefit for domains that use Cloudflare nameservers.

6.1 in the Domain Registration Agreement states that you cannot change the nameservers:

6.1 Nameservers . Registrant agrees to use Cloudflare’s nameservers. REGISTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT IT MAY NOT CHANGE THE NAMESERVERS ON THE REGISTRAR SERVICES, AND THAT IT MUST TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY REGISTRAR IF IT WISHES TO CHANGE NAMESERVERS.

You’ll either need to use Cloudflare’s DNS and get a list of the required records from your host, or transfer your domain elsewhere to change the nameservers.

well, I guess I will have to transfer it out.

Unless the hosting service you are using absolutely cannot be used with Cloudflare nameservers, I would simply create the necessary records. I find Cloudflare DNS to be better than most alternatives.

Not to mention

4.4 Transferring and Updating Domains. You may not transfer any domain name registered through Cloudflare to another domain name registrar during the first sixty (60) days after its initial registration date.
