Cannot update DNS because don't know which Cloudflare account we used initially

What is the name of the domain?

What is the error number?

None

What is the issue you’re encountering

Industrywide changes to SSL renewal now require validation by DNS record additions. Kinsta is using CNAME validation. Problem is we used Clouflare for the DNS but we lost what email was used. How can we retrieve which account was used for our domain?

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Spoke with Kinsta our hosting company for a while and the only solutions are very limited. The obvious solution would be to regain access to the initial Cloudflare account we used for setting up the DNS, our cofounder seems to have misplaced which email was used. A solution Kinsta provided is to purchase a custom SSL cert from a 3rd party and use that but we want to avoid spending money at the moment. Another solution that was suggested by Kinsta is to create a new Cloudflare account and point to our domain. However, the only problem is that if the old domain still exists on the old Cloudflare account, we might experience zone conflicts. I’m honestly not sure what to do.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

You can use one of the password reset features available at dash.cloudflare.com. If you do not manage to get that reset email, you won’t get access to the account and need to set up the domain from scratch on a new Cloudflare account.

Thanks for your response. If I create a new CF account and change the name servers to the new account will I loose the WordPress files/install on my site? We have over 200+ articles published and a decent amount of traffic and don’t want to jeopardize that. Sorry for the stupid question.

The content on your server is unrelated to the Cloudflare account.
