Cannot setup CloudFlare with VAR / Ionos as site already exists with CloudFlare

Hi, I am looking for assistance with removing my Cloudflare Free account and setting up a 3rd party (value added reseller, VAR) VAR account with Ionos. The VAR cannot setup the account as it appears as though Cloudflare is still “linked” to my domain. While I have “removed” the site from my Cloudflare account the VAR still cannot add CDN/Cloudflare capabilities to my account.

Note: No DNS changes were made at either Cloudflare nor the VAR

Brief Outline

  1. Day 1 - Signed up for Cloudflare free account to test capabilities for domain - added domain but DID NOT update DNS entries at Cloudflare or VAR
  2. Day 2 - Decided to leverage Cloudflare services via VAR. Signed up for Cloudflare via VAR
  3. Day 2 - Removed domain from Cloudflare account
  4. Day 3 - VAR indicated they cannot setup Cloudflare for domain as it is currently associated with Cloudflare - note no DNS changes were made whatsoever.

Does it take some time (how much time?) for Cloudflare to release a site/domain, even though they did not do anything with DNS entries?

Thank you.

Are you nameservers still pointed to Cloudflare?

I did not make DNS changes on either Cloudflare nor Host Provider. I am sure Cloudflare resisted my domain with their DNS however upon removing my site from their service they should have “released” the domain which did not seem to occur.

You probably need to change the nameservers at the registrar. Cloudflare is probably still seeing that your domain is using Cloudflare nameservers and won’t allow someone else to use the domain.
