Cannot point Cloudflare DNS to Cloudflare pages

I also was unable to add a custom domain to my Cloudflare pages site. My DNS records are hosted at Cloudflare. I tried to post details twice but received errors about new users not being allowed to post more than four links, even though my post didn’t have any links in it.

What is the name of the domain?

acfo.co

What is the error number?

553

What is the error message?

552

What is the issue you’re encountering

I cannot access acfo dot pages dot dev via the custom domain acfo dot co using Cloudflare DNS

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I will post in the comments if this actually posts. I’ve been rejected three times.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

I will post in the comments if this actually posts. I’ve been rejected three times.

OK, great, so it finally accepted the topic. Here’s the problem. I have created a Cloudflare pages website called acfo dot pages.dev (I’m avoiding anything that might look like a link because this forum rejects that.)

I have moved the DNS zone for my company domain acfo dot co to Cloudflare.

On the Cloudflare pages settings for that web site, I add the custom domain acfo dot co
I follow the instructions to add a CNAME of blank (which is impossible, so I used @) to point to acfo dot pages dot dev

That resulted visitors to both acfo dot co and www dot acfo dot co getting a 552 error. I’ve tried a variety of things, all of which didn’t work.

Can you show where you found that instruction? The CNAME record for a Cloudflare pages site is created automatically, you don’t need to do anything other than add your domain to the project. Just delete your old records first if you have any.

Did you try to remove the custom domain and add it again, now that you deleted the old records?

This looks like a bug to me, those instructions don’t make any sense.

Yes, I have tried to remove the custom domain and add it again.

And both the domain and the pages project are in the same account?

Yes, they are.

Strange. When I add a custom domain to a pages project, I see this screen after entering the domain:

Can you try if the same happens with a different browser?

That was all with Google Chrome incognito after doing a ipconfig /flushdns and changing my dns servers to another public resolver.

Have you already reverted the changes after posting your screenshot? This is not what I’m seeing.

Yes, I repointed my DNS to Github pages. I don’t want my website to be down.

In that case, I will not be able to help you.

OK, thanks for your time.
