Cannot add FQDN

I am trying to add a domain that looks like a sub-domain, but is not (scott.mortimer.name).
This is the FQDN as registered with my registrar. However, I heep getting the following error:

Blockquote Please ensure you are providing the root domain and not any subdomains (e.g., example.com, not subdomain.example.com) (Code: 1116)
Blockquote

Is there anyway around this?

Did you register scott or mortimer? AFAIK .name domains are a bit of a nightmare because there is no concrete naming schema. Sometimes it is a second-level domain, sometimes a third-level domain.

Assuming Cloudflare considers .name as the domain’s root, I am afraid there wont be a way around this. You could try contacting Cloudflare’s support and maybe they can hack something together but no guarantees

Thanks for the reply. As there is no root domain of mortimer.name, I guess I am not able to use the automated tools to add my domain. Seems to me that just looking at how many dots are in the domain name rather than using a DNS lookup to check the domain name is a rather lazy way to program their setup tool.

That is not the case however

.co.uk works and there are two dots as well. The issue is what you consider a public and official namespace and what not. With almost all domains that is pretty clear, but not with .name.

If you add mortimer.name you should be able to add it without problems, however you would need to change its nameservers as well, which you cant as far as I understood.

OK, I submitted a ticket and I guess I will see what the support folks can do now.
