Can R2 not be used for storing images?

Hello!

I’m considering switching my CDN service provider from Wasabi to R2. However, my object storage bucket at Wasabi mainly comprises user-generated content in the form of jpg, png, and gif images. I’m unsure whether R2 supports this type of content. I came across some information that suggests Cloudflare requires image-hosting buckets to go through their image resizing service, but Mastodon already handles that directly, so I’m not sure if it’s a concern.

Thanks.

It’s perfectly fine to use R2 for storing and serving images. Depending on what you want to do with those images (resizing, format conversion, cropping, etc.) using Cloudflare’s dedicated Images product might provide a better experience.
