Is there any work being done to add support for this?
It’s indispensable for avoiding CORS and other cross-domain related issues.
Netlify supports this, and it’s the only thing keeping me from moving a few sites from Netlify to Cloudflare.
That is correct, Cloudflare’s proxy does not support absolute URLs to external domains, only relative URLs on your site currently.
Unfortunately I can’t say whether this will be supported in the near/future. However, I do recommend bringing this up in our feedback channel for further visibility: Cloudflare Feedback if this is a feature that you would potentially like to see implemented
