Cache rules finally provide a way to bypass cache on cookie? Is it too good to be true?

I’ve been struggling with getting Cloudflare working in front of Drupal for literal years. The main issue is around bypassing Cloudflare CDN for users who are authenticated to my Drupal site. I need auth users to see different content, and typically they’re low volume enough so I’d prefer to serve them from origin.

The easiest way to do this is based on a cookie, which has been available only to the $200 / month Biz-level accounts… until now??? “Cache rules beta” seems to do the trick? Can it really be so simple?

Have other folks had success here? Would love to know about how people are tuning Cloudflare for Drupal specifically, especially for those with Pantheon hosting.

Very similar issue to Drupal 9 workers to stop caching for logged in users
