Blocked just adding code to site

Cloudflare keeps blocking me (my IP) every time I try to add code to my site. Have been trying to solve this since April. Have tried Firewall rules but they don’t solve. Also tried pausing Cloudflare to insert the code but won’t allow me to with message “This connection is not private”.
Surely there is a simple way to add code to articles etc on your website without being blocked by Cloudflare? Essentially I’m adding Google ad code - but Cloudflare just won’t let me.
The only solution I can think of is to cancel my Cloudflare subscription then rejoin Cloudflare later after making coding changes. But thinking there’s got to be a better solution.

May I ask what kind of error do you get?
Can you post a screenshot?

Kindly, see below article to find more helpful information why it occurs:

Furthermore, I assume this warning/error message does not come from Cloudflare, rather from your Web browser due to the security settings (especially if using Flexible SSL option at Cloudflare dashboard under the SSL/TLS tab for your domain name) and possibly misconfigured HTTPS connection to your Website / origin host - server (due to the SSL certificate or serving traffic via secure HTTPS connection from your Web server).

Here is a way to re-check if you correctly setup the SSL for your domain with Cloudflare:

If any other issues appear, follow the needed steps for troubleshooting from article below:

Regarding available SSL options at Cloudflare dashboard, check here:

In case you do not have an SSL certificate, you can use Cloudflare SSL, if so, kindly make sure you follow the instructions as follows on the below article to setup an SSL certificate using Cloudflare CA Origin Certificate:

Last but not least, kindly have a look here for more information regarding correct SSL settings:

Otherwise, it could be due to some anti-virus program filtering your HTTP(S) (Web) traffic, if you are running some?

Hi there

Here is screenshot. “Sorry, you have been blocked!” Every time I try to put code into my website I get blocked. Obviously my Firewall rules aren’t working.

You will see precisely what rules were triggered on the Firewall tab of the dashboard, and you can create a firewall to bypass the security feature that is being triggered.

Personally, I ensure that the CMS element of my sites are behind Cloudflare Access, and then allow traffic to those paths on the firewall. So any attacker trying to SQLi will be blocked by the Cloudflare Access authentication requirement, and the CMS traffic is not blocked.

Thanks for that. I’ve tried to create a firewall bypass regarding security features for my site but it doesn’t appear to work. Thinking I nominate my IP address as the field then bypass on the security features. But when I paused then reactivated Cloudflare it seems to give a new different IP address. Thinking many people would face this situation of wanting to make code changes on their site but the Cloudflare security blocks them.

It sounds like you skipped this part:

Probably not. Cloudflare rarely changes proxy IP addresses for websites. You may be thinking of your origin server’s IP address vs. Cloudflare’s proxy IP address.
