Bare domain is forwarding to www - I dont want it to

I have a domain setup with the root A record and a wildcard A record pointing to server 1
I have a www subdomain A record pointing to server 2

I am not using the proxy functionality on any of the records.

In order to get to the bare domain, I have to delete the www record or it will automatically rewrite to www and send me to server B.

How do I have a bare domain separate from the www domain?

In which case, any redirects are not coming from Cloudflare. The records will be pointed straight to the servers you specified and any redirects must come from there.
