The site can’t be reached. During migrate of 5 domains to cloudflare I didn’t realise they had changed the name of the nameservers from clay and jamie to to magnolia and alberto on the last one. I autofilled in the details at my registrar and initiated transfer, have changed the code and NS and now realise why this 1 website is not showing. How to amend NS record ?

You don’t ever want to set Cloudflare nameservers at the registrar until instructed by Cloudflare.
Visit your registrar settings for this domain and remove any Cloudflare nameservers you find. Enter the two shown in your Cloudflare dashboard DNS app for this site. Once the domain is active in Cloudflare, you can revist the domain transfer process.
Hi,
The . Com domain transfer authorisation has already been given.
I cannot change at registrar as it is now locked.
What has caught me out was after I created the zone I went and changed Nameserver at registrar then authorised the transfer to cloudflare. 5 domains.
BUT cloudflare gave a different NS for one of my records and I missed this. Auto fill.
As the site is not active in your account, I suspect the transfer is going to fail, you may be able to accelerate that process by contacting your current registrar and asking the to cancel the transfer in process, then change to magnolia and alberto, then unlock at the current registrar, and then transfer.
Hi. Thank you for the reply.
Yes I requested cancellation . No idea how long it might take to fail but I’m hoping sooner rather than later.
Kicking myself for not noticing the new set of NS. Live and learn!
spoken to old registrar, its no longer under their control so to speak so they cannot change the NS records, they suggested speaking to Cloudflare which isn’t possible so unsure what will happen now.
I am hoping that when the domain comes across it will either fail and reappear at old registrar or CF automatically gives it the correct NS entry and it will appear in my zone. Old registrar wasn’t sure the NS record would stop the transfer.
I honestly don’t know. Kick myself twice for not seeing CF had specified different NS entry for 1 of the 5 domains I was transferring. Will post outcome.
If the transfer completes I read the NS records cannot be changed from within Cloudflare. A term of service, you cannot change NS.
The old host have looked into this and ““As the transfer request has been initiated from the winning registrar’s side, their support team should have the ability to cancel the transfer request”” but of course this all works a bit differently. How can I force a transfer to fail?.
if it transfers then I can only update the nameservers with the new (CF) registrar." which is not possible in Cloudflare.
Really bad luck for the NS records to change on the last domain I was transferring. Now thats a paradox, success will be failure !
Yes !. Losing registrar was indeed able to unlock the NS change restriction, I have made the correct entries and am now active in my zone .
Huge relief !
thank you to all
