Authoritative A Record With Apex Record To Cloudflare

After creating an apex alias record with our authoritative dns provider, ftp is not resolving. Can I add an A record for the domain pointing ftp to our actual server? Thank you.

Yes, FTP needs to go through a hostname that is :grey: not proxied. Just create an A record like ftp.example.com pointing to the IP address and make sure the proxy is turned off.

In this case, is there any reason not to add the A record to our authoritative DNS provider?

If Cloudflare isn’t your authoritative DNS provider, then your question doesn’t really have anything to do with Cloudflare…
