I’m building API and host it on my own hosting and how do I get it connect on dns with api.example.com in the folder example.com/api?

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Not available to using ‘/’ in cname records

That is something you will need to handle on your host. DNS only directs the requests to the correct address.
