Any developer resources or notes on issuing an SSL certificate for Claris FileMaker Server 19 (FMS) from Cloudflare?

We are hosting a mobile application on a server with a sub-domain (A-Record is DNS only, not Proxied in CF). The application is built in FileMaker Server (FMS) and in order to secure the data between the server and mobile devices we need an SSL cert generated from a CSR (and private key) obtained in FMS, run that into CF and import back into FMS.

We have not been successful…I’m a marketer not a developer so please forgive my ignorance!

QUESTIONS:

    • Are we limited or unable to get the right certificate because we are on the PRO plan?
    • What type of SSL cert do we need?
    • We can only use our CSR / Private Key with an Origin Certificate and/or a Client Certificate.
    • We tried ordering an (Edge) advanced certificate but that doesn’t permit us to use a CSR.
    • Where do we get an Intermediate Certificate?
    • Is CF capable of providing the SLL we need?
    • Are there any developer resources or notes on issuing an SSL certificate for Claris FileMaker Server 19 (FMS) from Cloudflare?

FMS cert import screen:

If the record is not proxied, you can skip Cloudflare straight away. Origin certificates are only trusted by the proxies, hence you will get a certificate warning in an unproxied context.

Just get a Let’s Encrypt certificate.
