Allowing HTTP PURGE method

My backend expects a http PURGE request. I cannot for the life of me make Cloudflare forward that request. It returns a 403 right away. Already tried whitelisting origin IP and disabling WAF, and also tried creating an explicit firewall allow rule for the PURGE method. No matter what, the request never reaches the backend (no new lines in access log) and returns 403 from Cloudflare right away.

What am I missing?

curl -X PURGE https://mysite/path

403 Forbidden

403 Forbidden

Cloudflare-nginx

Hey,

We don’t proxy PURGE requests. You’d have to:

  • Grey cloud the record OR
  • Send the cURL to your IP with a Host header.

Hope this helps.

Roger, thanks
