After Adding the domain to Cloud flare Email Server not working

Hi everyone,

I recently added one of my domain names to Cloudflare, which was previously hosted with GoDaddy. However, since making this change, I have noticed that my email server, which is hosted on a local Linux server with Postfix (not on the GoDaddy hosting), is not working properly.

I believe this may be due to an issue with the Cloudflare proxy, as when I turn off the orange cloud for the following DNS records:

  • CNAME: mail website com
  • A: IP Address of the local server

my email server is able to send and receive emails without any problems.

However, I’m not sure if this is the best solution, as disabling the Cloudflare proxy could impact the performance and security of my email server.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their email server after adding a domain to Cloudflare? If so, how did you resolve the issue? And is it safe to disable the Cloudflare proxy for DNS records related to your email server?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

That’s the only solution. Cloudflare does not proxy Email, unless you use Spectrum on an Enterprise plan.
