Adding SPF records

Hi all,

My email client says “your spf records are not set up correctly”

123 reg advised adding the following records

Re Destination:

< In Cloudflare there is no ‘destination’ field but there is a ‘content’ field. Should destination’ go in the content field?

re: SPF record:

There is no SPF option in the ‘type’ drop down

re SRV record:

There is no SRV option in the ‘type’ dropdown

Can anyone please advise what I should be adding and where?

TIA,

Kes

Yes

SPF entries are put a in TXT record.

Check again…

You can give your domain name if you want to check if the records are set properly.

Thanks for the quick response!

Found the srv option

Will try adding the SPF as a TXT record instead

The domain is seendigital.co.uk

You have 2 SPF records, make sure there is only one. You will need to merge them into one (I guess the IP address is your server, if so include that; the other name is your previous mail host, if so then leave that one out).

Thanks, i don’t know what ‘merge them’ means I’m afraid. I don;t know how to do that

Should it look like this:

“v=spf1 mx a ip4:94.136.40.163 a:mailex.mailcore.me include:secureserver.net -all”

123 reg asked me to add this lot as well:

123-reg-dns-second-lot-of-settings

Hi, think i’ve worked it out. Would anyone be kind enough to check for me please? Domain is seendigital.co.uk

Your SPF record is ok.

For your MX, you have 2 additional 123-reg records which weren’t in your list as well as the secureserver.net ones. 123-reg is owned by Godaddy so it may not be a problem, but they aren’t in the list you posted.

dig +short _autodiscover._tcp.seendigital.co.uk srv
0 0 443 autodiscover.secureserver.net.

I’ve just been informed that 2 of the 123 records were no longer required so i’ve removed them

The SRV settings in cloudflare are apprently incompatible with 123 reg so they said remove that

I’ve added imap, pop and smtp cnames in place

123 said it should be ok now but i don’t trust them as much as you guys  Do they look ok now?

They need to be set to “DNS only” and not “proxied”.

Thanks, what should the TTL be then? If i set ‘proxy status’ to ‘dns only’ a ‘TTL’ dropdown appears with options ‘auto’ and a bunch of time periods.

Unless you have a specific articulable reason to change the TTL, you can leave on AUTO.
