I am trying to add a domain to my account. But when it attempts to do the initial DNS query to generate a DNS zone file at Cloudflare, it is pulling hundreds of A records that don’t exist. It appears to be pulling some cached DNS. My current zone file has only 4 DNS records.
It won’t allow me to bypass the zone scan, and won’t allow me to import my zone. And I don’t want to delete 500 A records individually.
It sounds like you had a wildcard record that caused answers to be returned for every name Cloudflare checked for. You can bulk delete using the Cloudflare API. There are tools available that can make that easier, such as:
