Adding domain on Microsoft 365 and getting Error 1004 when adding DNS

Hi

I am trying to add my domain to Microsoft 365 (MA) so I can host all emails there. When following the steps on MS and selecting “Let MS add your DNS records (recommended)”, all pulls through and then I get an error message:

*DNS Validation Error (Code: 1004) DNS name is invalid.

I then have the following message displayed:

*The DNS hosting provider encountered an error and could not complete the connect operation for your domain. Check that you are using the correct account and correct domain, and try again later.

I have spoken with MS and they say they can’t assist as the issue is on Cloudflare’s side. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Please try to add the required records manually instead if choosing the automatic setup.

Thanks Lauding. I have tried this and added manually to Cloudflare.

How do I get this to pull into MS 365 now? It still shows Status as ‘No services selected’, rather than ‘Healthy’.

Is there no option to verify the records during the manual setup process?

No there doesn’t seem to be. They are successfully added on Cloudflare and now just sit amongst all the other records.

I need to push/pull them through to MS 365 Admin but doing this just creates an error message on the MS Admin page.

There should be another option to this “Recommended” option. You may have to take a step back in the process, or even restart the setup wizard.

Thanks George.

Yes there is. This is where MS gives you the CNAME, MX and TXT DNS records to input manually into the DNS host (Cloudflare).

I have done this and can see records are added on Cloudflare but nothing on MS. How does this get fed back to MS once done?

Solved! - I had to deselect the DNS records to add Skype. This seems to be what was giving the issue. Thanks for the help[ and effort.
