Adding a domain to Cloudflare

Hi! I’m totally new to Cloudflare as well and I am already in the mood to search for another CDN provider simply because I can not seem to get started.

Follow the instructions and search through support and keep coming to the same issue:

"Under DNS Records > select the drop down._

I have found no place anywhere in my Cloudflare account where there is a drop down DNS nor do I have any idea what Cloudflare nameservers are.

I am completely frustrated with a process that seems should be simple, but the instructions are either outdated or I am blind.

Is there anyone who can Help

Hi sorry to hear you are having difficulty. It appears you are on step 1 of the welcome wizard where you need to add a domain:

Add Website
Add your first website. You can add more after this signup process.
The full set of instructions for singing up your domain name are available here:

https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/201720164-Step-2-Create-a-Cloudflare-account-and-add-a-website

Thanks for the quick reply!

Yet, you have looped me back around to the same instructions that keep me
frustrated. There is no DNS menu or dropdown on my account and no other
option to do anything else, except look at an account that does nothing.

True I am on the first step and that’s what is so annoying. I can read and
follow instructions fine enough, but when the instructions tell me to click
on something that is not ther, what do I do?

I tried to add a website and all I get is an error code’1099’ whatever that
means.

I would guess it gives me an error due to the lack of DNS. Now here’s the
loop to nowhere again.

Last try then I’m moving on this is crazy

Sorry, I’m not sure where you’re stuck. Looking at your account it appears you have completed steps 1 and 2.

  1. Go to www.cloudflare.com and click the Sign up link at the top of the page.

  2. Create a Cloudflare account by typing your email address and password. Click Create account now to proceed.

The next step is:

  1. Enter the domain for your website and then click Begin Scan. It’s not necessary to add “www” to the domain. For example, if your website is www.example.com, type example.com.

It does not appear that you have yet completed this step. In the box on the screen please enter the name of your domain and click “Begin Scan”.
