I am trying to add a CNAME record for a sub domain in ThriveCart Learn for a course that I have just created. I have logged into my Cloudflare account and I cannot find the DNS icon that they show in their video to add the CNAME.
Do I need to add a website first in Cloudflare first? Any website?
The reason that I ask ‘Any website’ is because I only have one website, but it isn’t a website that is related to my course, i.e. it doesn’t really have anything to do with my online course.
The video shows how to add the CNAME but when I logged into Cloudflare it’s saying that I’ve got no website, and there aren’t any of the the blue icons at the top of the screen.
Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem?
If your domain isn’t using Cloudflare for DNS, you’ll need to log in to your existing DNS provider to make DNS changes.
If you want to migrate your entire domain to Cloudflare DNS, you’ll have to go through the setup process to add your domain, which will eventually require logging in to your domain registrar and changing the nameservers to a pair of Cloudflare nameservers.
There’s also a premium service to allow you to use Cloudflare on a subdomain without actually putting your domain on Cloudflare DNS, however, the lowest tier plan that offers it is Business ($200/month US) and it would still require logging in to your existing DNS provider in order to create the necessary DNS entry
