Access DNS records for Cloudflare name server but purchased domain registered elsewhere

Our company purchased an existing domain from a 3rd party through another registrar. The domain was transferred to our account, but the namservers are still Cloudflare. I created a Cloudflare account. How do I link that account to the domain, nameservers? I imagine that there has to be some security in place to make sure the right party is accessing, managing these. I want to be able to manage the DNS records…or worse case, see what they are set to currently.

Thanks for your help from a DNS neophyte!

You simply add the domain to your account, Cloudflare will then assign new nameservers, and you set these nameservers at your registrar. At that point the domain will be under your account’s control.

Just make sure you double check the DNS records, as Cloudflare will add the current Cloudflare addresses, which will show an error. You will need to update them with the actual addresses.
