When trying to add a site, I am getting the error “zone name provided is subject to a hold which disallows the creation of this zone.” I am moving from Dynect to Cloudflare, just DNS. I was able to move over one domain without issues, and they both have the same settings in Dyn. Not sure what or where the hold would be from? I noticed that the domain getting the error has a “cloudflare-verify” TXT record, could that be the issue?
It usually means that the domain is active on another account. This feature is only available on Enterprise so it will likely be an Enterprise account that has it active.
You’ll need to reach out to whoever owns or has the domain at the moment and ask them to remove the hold before you can add it.
Thank you. It’s possible our web devs did it but they are no longer associated with us. If I cannot contact them but I can prove that I own the domain, best route would be Cloudflare support I assume?
If you can’t find the owner then yes, you’ll have to contact support. I’m not sure what they can do in this case but I assume they’ll be able to assist in some way.
