In the last few weeks I have had a very large increase in the number of 5xx errors reported by Google regarding accessing pages on the site. More than half of the pages have been affected. I have tested the pages manually and they work correctly but the Google bots cannot access them even though I have asked them several times to re-access them. Has anyone else encountered such problems?
Maybe the Googlebot was too aggressive with crawling and caused your Web server to generate a lot of content via PHP which leaded to such erroring.
Have you checked your server log files about such event?
You were right. I checked and it seems that the problem was on our end in the PHP code. Thanks a lot for the idea.
