526 Error after changing Server IP

I added my website to cloudflare using Free Plan, set TLS to strict mode and enabled an Edge Certificate. Everything was OK until I had to change my server’s IP. Since then, I get 526 error unless I set TLS to full instead of strict.
Any ideas?

  1. Do not change to Full, that’s an insecure legacy mode without proper encryption - only use Full Strict
  2. The error means your new server is not properly configured, your host needs to fix that
  3. Pause Cloudflare and talk to your host to get that fixed

Thanks for your reply. I do not have a host or panel. It’s just a baremetal VPS. Can you provide me with any instructions?

Server administration is unfortunately beyond the scope of the forum and I’d refer to StackExchange or Reddit. If you use an Origin certificate you can follow Origin CA certificates · Cloudflare SSL/TLS docs.

Bottom line, your site needs to load fine on HTTPS without Cloudflare. Once it does, it will also work on Cloudflare.
