What happened?
Cloudflare is unable to establish an SSL connection to the origin server.
What can I do?

It appears that the SSL configuration used is not compatible with Cloudflare. This could happen for a several reasons, including no shared cipher suites. Additional troubleshooting information here.
Called Go daddy and was told the issue is with Cloudflare… anyone else have the same problem?
I would suggest that it is an issue with GoDaddy! They need to configure your site to use SSL and you need a valid certificate on the server.
You could pause Cloudflare on the site, sort out the SSL config on GoDaddy and re-enable Cloudflare.
You can pause Cloudflare from the Overview tab of the Cloudflare Dashboard, bottom right under Advanced Actions.
I do agree with your words that Flexible is not an idle thing one would expect from SSL. It just for eyeball to get HTTPS. Surely, having encrypted connection from origin level would be better. OP need SSL for that. I just wanted to make things bit easier to bring site back quickly.
