2 out of 4 sites moved from Cloudflare to new Cloudflare error on "www." ok - root

What is the name of the domain?

https://www.executiveroundtables.co.uk/ and https://www.vfmedia.co.uk/

What is the error number?

1000 / redirects

What is the error message?

Error 1000 Ray ID: 89522f3c5eb8be05 • 2024-06-17 09:59:01 UTC DNS points to prohibited IP What happened? You’ve requested a page on a website (www.executiveroundtables.co.uk) that is on the Cloudflare network. Unfortunately, it is resolving to an IP address that is creating a conflict within Cloudflare’s system.

What is the isssue you’re encountering

2 out of 4 websites I have moved from a CF account to a new cloudflare account are ok on the root but erroring on “www.”

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Imported old record to new site
Amended CNAME
Turned off always use https in host.
Changed from Flexible to Full (stopped both URLs working) changed back

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Visit the two web addresses

I fixed this issue for the two sites by putting in a permanent page redirection for www.example.com/* to https://example.com/$1

Does anyone on this community forsee any issues with this solution. Might it affect the traffic distribution?

Ok it’s not the same issue redirect fixed the 1000 (executive round tables) issue but vfmedia.co.uk is still unstable. Any further advice you can give to fix to many redirects issue on vfmedia?

This page isn’t working

www.vfmedia.co.uk redirected you too many times.

ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

I’m not able to replicate that error. I see the site loading:

Would you try the suggestion by clearing the browser cache?

I work with Leon and I still have the same view after clearing my cookies. We changed the dns on Saturday afternoon is it possible that it needs to propagate fully. And will the redirect affect that?

Can anyone see what we can see in the uk?

It’s not working for me (tester is in the UK, but it shouldn’t make any difference unless you have some specific geographic configuration set in Cloudflare or on your origin)…
https://cf.sjr.org.uk/tools/check?f0ed9f7e48e743bea4ebc3abc683ecba#connection-server-https

Check your SSL/TLS setting is set to “Full (strict)” in your dashboard here…
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/ssl-tls

If that doesn’t fix it, check for redirects on your origin.

Thank you. I’ve just changed this and the background has loaded but not the text.

I’ve just deactivated the “www.” → https redirect that I created in Cloudflare

It looks like that has done the trick!

Oh…it looks like the DNS 1000 error is back… on both the “https” and “www.”

I’ve double checked the ip. There are some DNS which are “social” this site is inherited from another developer… but there’s A record an IP from the root to the host and I’ve just added an A Record for the “www”

It doesn’t seem to have taken effect. Any suggestions of further actions?

Ok I removed the social gubbins from Pally and it IS working now!
