1.1.1.1 WARP push-up messages

I’ve been receiving several push-up messages a day from the 1.1.1.1 app saying “WARP Captive portal has been detected”.
Can anyone explain me what this message means? How can I solve this issue?

I just had the same notification on my IOS phone. No idea what it means, but would also like to know.

Messages appear to be tied to a specific geographic location. Mine appear at a rural location about 15 miles from my home. Is it possible this is a stingray deployment?

When you go to places like coffee shops or other businesses with wifi that requires you log in, accept terms and conditions, or pay for access to the internet, the 1.1.1.1 App will temporarily disable the VPN so that you can access the page the network wants you to use in order to access the internet.

Yesterday I stayed home. I got seven messages.

It’s also a bug apparently addressed in a recent update.

I’m also receiving this message, even with WiFi disabled - what are the potential causes? Or is it actually just a bug?

From my experience this happens even if I am not trying to connect to any of those wifi networks but the phone have just detected those.

When I received these “Captive portal has been detected” it was super strange because I had both WIFI & Bluetooth turned OFF, and the T-Mobile cellular connection was super weak, going between ‘No Service’ and barely 1 bar with only Edge 2G data, yet the Captive portal was always in the same exact geographic GPS location way out in rural countryside.
