Why does the 1.1.1.1 app request permission to access Local Network in iOS 14?

1.1.1.1 uses a VPN configuration to intercept DNS queries in your phone.

That makes sense. The VPN implementation would need that permission. I suppose when 1.1.1.1 is updated to be a native DNS on iOS 14, it would no longer need this permission since the OS allows for the DNS to be set with the iOS 14 release.

I’ve always been able to manually set DNS servers in iOS in my WiFi connection, but not cellular. In those cases, it’s not encrypted DoH, like the 1.1.1.1 app does.
